On a night which brought back memories of the rain from 12 months ago, 4 hardy Striders and 143 runners in total faced horizontal rain and wind to take part in the 4th of the Totley Fell Race Series 2008; very difficult conditions underfoot even with fell shoes. Despite the weather, which you soon forgot about when you hit the first severe hill, it was a very enjoyable event. Great credit to the marshalls out on the course.

Strider Colin West took the prize as first vet (a t-shirt) but he needed to thank his sporting competitors who called him back instead of letting him ride off into the distance when he had inexplicably taken the wrong route within a mile of the finish. On a hot and windy day three other Striders took part in this event which surely deserves more support, if not for the tea, coffee and superb home made cakes which were there for the combatants at the end of the race. Winning time 1:39.25, 109 finishers.

It was very windy for this race. However, it was neither too hot, nor too cold and it stayed dry. All in all, reasonable conditions.

I ran the Manchester 10km on Sunday 18th May to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society and my reasons for this can be seen on www.justgiving.com/trevorbrown . So far my friends and acquaintances have helped me raise £1,110. I am keeping the web site open for the next few weeks so if anyone would like to donate to this very worthy cause it would be much appreciated. As for the race the weather was sunny but not hot, and the atmosphere could not have been better and I'm sure a great deal of money was raised for good causes. My position was 4,378th out of 23,942 finishers.
